Hell’s troops echo up my stairs, they hammer at my door,
Their voices rend the night.
Dead-eyed devils take my arms: they drag me to the cold:
They take me from the light.
And there’s no reason given, because we all know the reason …
In the precise sense of that word.
Become another lifer, another nameless cypher:
One more voice that now won’t be heard.
Their interrogation’s short, there’s nothing they don’t know:
Nothing I can deny.
Processed, packed off to my cell to await the break of dawn:
The last night of this life.
In time, the boots come for me: a life flashes before me
But it’s a stranger’s, no more mine.
And when they’re done, they leave me on the bare concrete, bleeding:
Facing the start of my hard time.
Taken, tortured and broken,
A living death.
Confined, silent, rubbed out.
A swift descent to Hell.
Scratching out a life of sorts: if you can call this life.
We endure, we survive.
Hanging onto breath, we strive: starving, brutalized,
We keep ourselves alive.
Time now has no meaning: it’s just an endless being
Of constant hunger and decay
But deep within this carcass, a light shines in the darkness:
A spirit they can’t take away.
Taken, tortured and broken,
Disappeared.
Confined, silent, rubbed out.
A world made living Hell.
Hell. A swift descent to Hell.
Hell. Hell. A swift descent to Hell.
Hell. Hell. A swift descent to Hell.
